The team from North Laurel placed second overall in the team competition of the National FFA Environmental and Natural Resources CDE event. Team members include Haylea Brock, Peyton Roundtree, Abigail Davidson, and Maggie Hayre. All team members received a National Gold Rating, placing them in the top 1/3 of all individual scores for the competition!
The National FFA Environmental and Natural Resource CDE is a 3-day competitive event that allows students to apply classroom knowledge to real-life situations. The event focuses on testing students' problem-solving and decision-making skills in environmental and natural resources. These areas concentrate on soil profiles, water quality, waste management, and the use of global positioning units.
In addition, students were given an Environmental and Natural Resource scenario. Teams created a strategic plan for the environmental problem, then presented to a panel of expert industry judges. Each team competed at local and state levels to earn the opportunity to represent their home state at the National FFA Convention & Expo.
