Dear Laurel County Public School’s Students and Families,
Please allow me to welcome you to the 2024-25 school year as the first day of class for students is just one week away on Thursday, August 8, 2024! I am eager and energized to start this exciting, new school year–I trust you are too!
I hope your summer break was filled with some rest but also recreation that sparked curiosity and connections, and you feel refreshed and ready to embrace the best school year yet! Whether you are a returning member to our schools or joining us for the first time, I am thrilled to have each of you as a valuable part of the Laurel County Public School’s community; we believe in “Doing Great Things for Kids, so Kids Can Do Great Things!”
Our dedicated team of educators and staff have been hard at work over the summer, learning new things themselves, preparing their classrooms, planning engaging lessons, and organizing enriching extracurricular activities to create an environment where staff is excited to educate, and students are excited to be educated! This year promises to be filled with opportunities for students to do great things - to grow, learn, explore, and cultivate their passions.
As we prepare for the new school year, we want to assure you that our commitment to academic excellence, safe and nurturing environments, and student success remains unwavering. The Laurel County Public School's latest initiative “Portrait of a Successful Learner,” focuses on the whole student and includes innovation, critical thinking, effective communication, lifelong learning, and moral character. These descriptors are shaped through a student’s education and experiences and enriched by those individuals around them.
Family involvement and support are invaluable to the success of our students. I ask that all families join the mission of the Laurel County Public Schools by being attentive and encouraging to students: acknowledging their thinking, celebrating their progress, and challenging their efforts. We want each child to reach their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally. Together we will ensure the Laurel County Public Schools remain a high-achieving, top-performing district!
Sincerely,
Denise M. Griebel
