The London-Laurel Chamber, joined by community leaders, school and district administration, local and county officials, and students, held a ribbon cutting for the new South Laurel High School Greenhouse.
The state-of-the-art facility was constructed through ESSER and LAVEC funding. During their remarks, Superintendent Denise M. Griebel, Principal Dr. Jeremy Kidd, and Agriculture teacher and FFA Advisor Jason McWhorter expressed their excitement for the new greenhouse at South Laurel High School and the opportunities it presents for students to gain hands-on experience.
In addition to the ribbon cutting, attendees were treated to a cookout prepared by the Laurel County Cattleman's Association and served by South Laurel High School FFA members.
The greenhouse will be open to the public starting Saturday, April 20, at 8:00 am.
The NLHS Greenhouse is currently under construction and expected to be completed in May.
